Leveraging employee advocacy through social media is a smart way to make relevant content available to receptive audiences while also building your employer brand. And contrary to what you may think, employee advocacy is critically important even in highly regulated industries. Attend this free seminar in New York or Washington, D.C. (or join by webinar) to find out more.
What is employee advocacy?
Employee advocacy refers to the active promotion or positive endorsement of a business by its workers or associates. The sharing of social media content by employees is a hugely untapped potential source of new website traffic and lead generation among many businesses.
In fact, Forrester Research studied the status of employee advocacy through a global survey of over 5,500 information technology workers and found it lacking. Employees in North America and Europe scored -23% (yes that's a minus sign) for recommending their company's products and services. Detractors made up 49% the IT workers sampled and only 27% were promoters, while 24% were neutral.
The takeaway, according to Forrester:
"Employees who are optimistic about technology and well-equipped with information and communications technology (ICT) are more likely to be advocates than those who are not."
What does that mean for companies? Well to start, make sure you have the right content and right tools needed for your employees to share your positive messages.
